House Of Sampoerna

PT HM Sampoerna or Sampoerna, one of the largest tobacco companies in Indonesia today, was founded by Liem Seeng Tee (1893-1956). Liem Seeng Tee is an immigrant from a poor family in Fujian province in China. In the year 1898, not long after his mother died, he was with his father and older sister came to Indonesia to find a more friendly climate.

the age of 5 years in a foreign country. 

Liem later adopted by a family in Bojonegoro, a small town near Surabaya, and began studying concocting tobacco which he sold at the train station. At the age of 17 years, he began to work independently with selling cigarettes in the cars in the train.

In the back of the main building, there are large enough factory to produce cigarettes. You can see the process of making cigarettes in one room of this mill from the stage at the 2nd floor of the main house. Factory was opened on Monday through Saturday from 6 am to 3 pm.
